“She is ready” – Wiegman on Naz after full England senior call-up

England Head Coach Sarina Wiegman praised Jess Naz’s displays in training after she announced the forward had been promoted to the Lionesses senior squad for the first time.

After an impressive season with the Club, netting seven goals and registering four assists, Jess was rewarded following her fine performances with a maiden call-up to Wiegman’s 28-player squad as one of the four standby players for their upcoming EURO 2025 qualifiers against France, Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

The 23-year-old joined up with the group at the beginning of this week at St George’s Park and, after making an impression in training alongside the withdrawal of Lauren James from the squad, Wiegman has now moved the forward from standby list to the full squad.

Jess could now be in line to make her senior debut this evening (31 May) at St James’ Park (8pm UK) as England face France before facing the same opponents four days later at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne, France (8pm UK).

Speaking to the media in her pre-match press conference on Thursday (30 May), Wiegman believes that our number seven is ‘ready’ after positive performances in training.

“Jess is ready,” the England boss said. “She has shown good stuff this week in training and good stuff with her Club.”

The forward will also be involved in the England squad when they meet up next month for their EURO qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.
