Clinton shortlisted for WSL Player of the Season award

Fri 10 May 2024, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Grace Clinton has been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season award for 2023/24.

Signed on loan from Manchester United in the summer, having initially played just 14 games in the WSL during her time at Everton, the 21-year-old has excelled in just her third spell in the league.

The midfielder has been one of the standout players during a much-improved campaign, cementing our spot in sixth-place in the table, and Grace has been pretty much an ever-present in Robert Vilahamn’s side, missing only two games in the league this season, those against her parent club.

That has seen our number eight register seven goals involvements (four goals and three assists) in the league, with all of those coming in wins or draws, including a brace and an assist in our 4-3 victory over West Ham United back in January.

Her excellent form also saw her receive her first international call-up back in October and, in her later caps, she made her debut for England national team in February and, within 20 minutes of the game, Grace netted her first goal senior international goal in the 7-2 victory over Austria. She has since made three caps this season.

Also in the running for the award this year are Chelsea’s Niamh Charles and Lauren James, Manchester City’s Khiara Keating and Khadjia Shaw, Arsenal’s Lotte Wubben-Moy, Leicester City’s Jutta Rantala and Brighton’s Elisabeth Terland.

As usual with WSL awards, you can help Grace to be named Player of the Season by voting for the midfielder via the link below. Voting is now open and will close at 10am on Monday 13 May.
