Sonny: “In a tough moment, it’s a good opportunity to get everyone together”

Togetherness is key for skipper Heung-Min Son as we approach the final three games of the season.
Sunday’s 4-2 loss at Liverpool made it four defeats in a row in the Premier League, but we remain fifth and can still catch Villa in fourth. We face Burnley at home on Saturday (3pm UK), then City at home (Tuesday 14 May, 8pm) and then a trip to Sheffield United on the final day (19 May, 4pm).
Speaking at Anfield, Sonny felt we had to face this ‘big challenge’ head on. “Look, in a tough moment, it’s a good opportunity to get everyone together,” said. “We can see everyone at the start of the season when everything was good, everyone was together, everyone was joy, everyone wanted to watch our games.
“This is the first time of the season that we have a big challenge, so we have to face it and we have to get better, stronger and even tighter.”

Sonny, who chalked up the 300-game milestone for us in the Premier League at Anfield - only the third Spur to reach that tally after Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane - is now part of that process as captain. What is he saying to the squad at the moment?
“I always want to push as much as possible, because it means something for me wearing this shirt, also for everyone,” he said. “When you play in the Premier League, young, experienced, it doesn’t matter, when you wear the shirt, you have to give everything.
“I try to talk to the players, to be positive, because every single season you will have a tough time - now is a time we’re facing really tough moments, but we have to keep our heads up, take the pain, take the defeat and you have to move on, because football comes really fast at you and if you aren’t ready, you’ll have big problems, so, we have to be ready for this big fight and big challenge.”
