Ben Davies and Bethany England have been selected to receive our men’s and women’s PFA Community Champion awards for the 2023/24 season.
The PFA Community Champion is an annual award given to every Premier League, English Football League and Women’s Super League club. It highlights players who have made their work with communities and good causes central to their role as a professional footballer.
Ben, who is the club’s longest serving player, was recognised for his role across a number of areas over the past twelve months.
The 31-year-old fronted the announcement that we were the first football club to sign up to the Mayor of London’s Women’s Night Safety Charter, attended a seated cancer rehabilitation session run by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, attended an event to celebrate ten years of the Proud Lilywhites – our LGBTQI+ supporters’ association – and supported Spurs fan & marathon runner Anthony Bryan in his successful attempt to run the fastest time for someone paralysed down one side of their body at this year’s London Marathon.
Ben has also been a prominent supporter of the National Literacy Trust, and in December last year took part in a session held at the stadium with students from West Green Primary School in Haringey to motivate thousands to improve their literacy skills through the subject of football.
Bethany, meanwhile, has spoken passionately on the topic cancer and the impact it has had on her family after her grandad died of skin cancer. She visited the Foundation’s Move 4 You programme for people living with cancer earlier this year, taking part in light circuit-based exercises and a Q&A on all things football and health with the group at Southbury Leisure Centre in Enfield. Bethany has also discussed her own personal experience of living with endometriosis and raised awareness of its impact on women, both within the game and without.

Maheta Molango, CEO Professional Footballers’ Association, said: "The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community.
"The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest."
