Van de Ven takes Player of the Match award after win over Palace

Micky van de Ven has been named our supporters' HSBC Player of the Match after his imperious display in our 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Claiming his first Player of the Match award since our November win over the Eagles, Micky claimed 25 per cent of the vote in an exclusive poll on our official app straight after the game.

Partnering Cristian Romero at the heart of our defence once again, the Dutchman enjoyed quite the battle against Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta as he managed to keep the imposing Frenchman quite in the clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Completing 100 per cent of the tackles he attempted in the game, the centre-half wasn't dribbled past once in the encounter. He also completed 94 per cent of the passes he attempted in the game - a rate only bettered by Yves Bissouma (95 per cent), while no Spurs player completed more dribbles than the 22-year-old.

One of those dribbles even led to our third goal of the day as Micky skipped past Matheus Franca before releasing the ball forward down the left. Brennan Johnson eventually releasing Sonny who stroked home to seal the win.
