Boughton’s Australia begin their U20 Asian Cup campaign with a victory

Milly Boughton featured in Australia Under-20’s opening game of the AFC Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup as they came from behind to beat South Korea 2-1 to get off to winning ways in the group.
The young midfielder, who made her competitive debut for us against Bristol City in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup earlier this season, started the game at the Do’ stilk Stadium in wintery conditions and went onto complete 45 minutes.
The Matildas will now face Uzbekistan in the second game on Wednesday 6 March (11am kick-off) before rounding off the group on Saturday 9 March (8am kick-off) against Chinese Taipei, with a chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the competition.
Elsewhere, Lenna Gunning-Williams made it three goals in two games for Ipswich Town in their 3-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.
Town play Thomas into the channel and she races away from marker before delivering for the arriving Lenna Gunning-Williams to guide her header into the far corner.

The 19-year-old restored Town’s lead ahead of the break as she met Natasha Thomas’ cross and guided her header beyond the goalkeeper – making 13 goals in all competitions.
Elkie Bowyer also featured for Town, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute and helping them see out back-to-back wins in the league.
