Heung-Min Son scored his 45th goal for South Korea on Thursday but it was not enough to keep his nation's 100 per cent record in the Second Round of World Cup qualifying in Asia going as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Thailand.
Captaining his nation from the start as he collected his 124th cap for his nation, Korea headed into the clash having won each of their first two games in their Second Round group as their qualifying campaign for the 2026 tournament in USA, Canada and Mexico continued, but that perfect run was ended by their south Asia opponents in Seoul.
Clashing at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, our skipper steered home from 10 yards out three minutes before half-time in the Korean capital to give his country the lead.
However, that strike was not to be enough for Taegeuk Warriors as, just past the hour mark, Thailand grabbed an equaliser through Suphanat Mueanta to see the spoils shared.
Sonny played the full 90 minutes for his nation in his 14th consecutive competitive international start.
