Clinton: “The FA Cup is one of the biggest competitions in this country” | Matchday programme exclusive

It has certainly been a whirlwind few months for Grace Clinton.

The 20-year-old, who joined us on loan from Manchester United last summer, was named in her third England squad by head coach Sarina Wiegman for the February international break and she was given her chance to impress against Austria.

And she certainly took her chance with aplomb. Only taking 19 minutes to net her first-ever senior international goal on her England debut when she headed home Lauren Hemp’s cross, with our number eight earning her second cap just three days later against Italy.

The attention now turns to the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday afternoon with the visit from Manchester City and Grace has reached the final of the competition with Everton in 2020, with the midfielder keen to replicate that journey with Spurs.

Speaking in an exclusive interview in the matchday programme ahead of Sunday’s clash, Grace said: “For me, the FA Cup is one of the biggest competitions in this country after the league, anything can happen in these types of games, and it’s an unbelievable competition to play in.

“I have been to two FA Cup finals, one with Everton when we played Manchester City and then last season with Manchester United, I was cup-tied for the game, but I still travelled with the team, so I have seen that atmosphere with the sold-out crowd, and it’s just unbelievable.

“So, if we were able to get to experience that moment this season, especially for the first time in the Club’s history, it will be an amazing feeling.”
