Guglielmo Vicario has been named in Italy's squad for Euro 2024 in what will be his first experience of a major international tournament.
The Italian goalkeeper was confirmed in Luciano Spalletti's 26-player squad on Thursday (6 June), as the Azzurri seek to defend the nation's European Championship title from three years ago.
'Vic', who enjoyed a standout and ever-present maiden campaign in the Premier League this term, earned his international debut in a 2-0 win over Ecuador in March and has produced consecutive clean sheets in his two caps to date, most recently in a goalless draw with Turkey last time out.
Just reward for the 27-year-old who has gone from strength to strength since starting his club career in Serie D - Italy's fourth tier - a decade ago and who made his senior international bow despite progressing outside of the more traditional national team youth system pathway.
The final squad announcement comes just over a week prior to Italy starting their title defence against Albania on Friday 14 June, before two tough Group B encounters against Spain (20 June) and Croatia (24 June) in what is a highly competitive group.
Before that, Spalletti's side face their final warm-up friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Vic's former home of Empoli's Carlo Castellani Stadium this Sunday (kick-off 7.45pm UK).
