Getting to know...
Amanda Nildén

Amanda Nildén became our first signing of the summer transfer window as she completed a permanent move to the Club from Serie A side Juventus.
The defender spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with us, making 16 appearances in all competitions and played a part in helping us to reach our first-ever Women’s FA Cup Final.
As the Sweden international put to pen on a contract that will run until 2027, we put Amanda in the GTK hotseat to find out a little bit more about her, from who she would most like to meet to her first football boots.
WHO?

Who would you most like to meet?
“I would really like to meet Michelle Obama one day. She’s a person with great opinions and is like a power girl, so I would get really inspired by her.”
Who would you most like to see in concert?
“Rihanna because I think she’s good and I really like her music.”
Who has been the biggest influence on your career so far?
"I would say it has been my family because they have always supported me, I feel them giving me support helps me to improve even more and want to get better. My younger sister also plays football and we have a goal to play alongside each other one day.'

Where did you grow up?
“I grew up in Stockholm in Sweden.”
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
“I would love to visit California because I feel it’s so different to where I am from, the weather is nice and there’s so much fun stuff to do.”
Where do you prefer to go – beach or city?
“Beach because I love the sea, relaxing on the sand and taking in the sun.”
Where would you go if you could travel back in time?
“When I played in the UEFA Euro’s quarter-final against Belgium in England, we won 1-0 and that was a great experience.”

HOW?
How many superstitions do you have?
“I don’t really have any. It doesn’t work for me and I don’t want to get caught up in any.”
How did you get involved in football?
“All my family played football, so it was quite natural when I was growing up and I would play with my older brother in the garden.”
How do you switch off after a match?
“I would go on my phone to catch-up with my family or someone that watched the game, talk through it and then try to think about something else, whether that’s listening to music or anything really.”

What is something you’ve always wanted to learn?
“I have always wanted to play an instrument, particularly the guitar as that would be cool. You could bring it with you everywhere and play anytime you want.”
What was the last concert you went to?
“The last one, I think, was Zara Larsson, a Swedish artist, as she played in Sweden last summer.”
What was your initiation song?
“That was actually really bad. Me, Matilda (Vinberg) and Shuang (Wang) did one together and we did a song from The Lion King, it didn’t have any words in it. Me and ‘Tilly’ were going to do one together, but Shuang didn’t have anyone, so we decided to do it as a trio.”
What was your first pair of football boots?
“It was a pair of Adidas Predators.”

“I love to lie in, but now we get here (training ground) quite early for breakfast in the week, my body clock is quite used to it so I would say roughly around 7am.”
When did you last visit the cinema?
“I think that must have been last summer, I don’t really go to the cinema often. I much prefer to be at home and watching a TV series.”
When are you at your happiest?
“When I’m close to my family and friends and when the football is going well.”
When did you realise you might make it as a footballer?
“When I started to play for the national team at youth level, I started to realise that the dream could become a reality.”
