Troy Parrott continued his prolific end of season form with a stoppage-time winner to earn Republic of Ireland victory over Hungary in Dublin on Tuesday night.
Only two days on from scoring a hat-trick in the final game of his season-long loan with Excelsior Rotterdam - making it 17 for the campaign and seven goals in four games during the relegation play-off phase despite Excelsior's relegation from the top tier - Troy was at it again as he netted in the 92nd minute to hand the Boys in Green their first win this calendar year.
Earlier, Adam Idah had nodded the home side in front with their first attempt on goal in the 36th minute before Adam Lang's close-range finish levelled things up four minutes later.
Locked at one apiece against a stubborn Hungarian side bound for Euro 2024 and unbeaten in 14 internationals, Ireland's interim manager John O'Shea turned to the in-form striker off the bench just after the hour-mark in what was his 22nd cap.
With it level as the clock ticked into the second minute of three added on, the 22-year-old pounced on a defensive error inside his own half to surge through on goal before slotting past substitute goalkeeper Denes Dibusz to register his fifth international goal and hand O'Shea his maiden victory at the helm to spark jubilant scenes at the Aviva Stadium.
