Spurs legend Ledley King today visited a football session run for children in the Borough of Enfield hosted at the Club’s Training Centre.

The girls-only session, for players aged 5-7 years old, was hosted as part of the NextGen Schools Festival that the Club runs through its Football Development Programmes.

The day included football drills, a mini tournament and prize giving, all led by the Club’s FA & UEFA-qualified coaches, who are fully integrated into our overarching Player Development Model.

• The girls-only session was run as part of the NextGen Schools Festival that is organised for 500 children from twenty-nine primary schools in the Borough of Enfield
• As well as meeting with the participants, Ledley handed out awards including two scholarship places on our summer holiday programmes

Two of the participants received a scholarship onto one of the Club’s summer holiday programmes. The summer programmes take place at Woodhouse College, Harrow School, Richard Hale School, Prendergast Ladywell School, St Clement Danes, The Hemel Hempstead School & Epping St John’s School, with the winners selected based on their engagement throughout the day, displaying the qualities of teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.

One of the winners was Amelia, who said: “I have had a lot of fun today, I think the best part was when I scored three goals! It is so exciting to be joining the summer holiday programmes.”

Ledley met with the participants and handed out the prizes on the day, which included “Goal of the Day” and “Team of the Day”, as well as the scholarships.

He said: “With the world class facilities that the Club has, I think it is so important that we are engaging with our local area and offering opportunities, as we do with the Stadium. I would have loved the opportunity as a young kid to come and play in such amazing facilities, making friends and gaining confidence.”

The Club’s player development programmes provide an elite training experience, allowing players to improve their game. Led by our experienced FA and UEFA-qualified coaches, young players will receive expert guidance and instruction, learning the techniques and strategies that define our Club's football philosophy across both the Men’s and Women’s First Team.

Premium venues are carefully selected to offer high-quality training environments across London, Hertfordshire and Essex. Participants also have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and embrace the values of fair play and collaboration both on and off the pitch.

Chris Acaster, Head of Global Coaching for Tottenham Hotspur said: “Our summer holiday programmes cater for players of all abilities and help to teach youngsters the Spurs philosophy under the guidance of FA and UEFA-qualified coaches. It is the ideal setting for players to enhance their skills and elevate their game."
