Madders plays his part as England topple Bosnia & Herzegovina

James Maddison played a key role in Harry Kane's goal as England beat Bosnia & Herzegovina 3-0 in Monday night's friendly at Newcastle United's St James' Park.

Earning his seventh cap off the bench on 61 minutes, Madders saw plenty of the ball in a half-hour cameo, including helping setting up the third goal for Kane in the final minute. Taking a short corner, Madders took the ball back from Jack Grealish on the left byline, picked out Jarrod Bowen, his shot was blocked by his own player, Ezri Konsa, on the line but the ball fell kindly for Harry to drill home from close range.

Madders also had an effort blocked from 20 yards on 80 minutes and, two minutes later, broke into the box, only to stumble when setting to shoot, his effort eventually blocked and deflected wide.

That was the first of two pre-tournament friendlies for the Three Lions ahead of their UEFA EURO 2024 opener against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on 16 June. Next up, Iceland at Wembley this Friday (7 June, 7.45pm).
