Heung-Min Son waved goodbye to 2023/24 with another win for South Korea in World Cup qualifying.

PSG midfielder Lee Kang-in hit the only goal of the game on 61 minutes as Korea finished top of Group C of the second round of Asian World Cup qualifying for the 2026 finals unbeaten and fully eight points clear of their rivals.

Skipper Sonny completed the full 90 minutes at the Seoul World Cup Stadium - home of our summer Tour matches against Team K League (31 July) and FC Bayern (3 August) - in what was his 127th cap.

Elsewhere, Troy Parrott started and played for 53 minutes as the Republic of Ireland were beaten 3-0 by Portugal in Aveiro. That was Troy's 19th cap. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Portugal.

Meanwhile, Dane Scarlett was on target again as England's Elite Squad drew 2-2 against the Republic of Ireland in Croatia.

Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso are next up in the final friendly action of the summer for Argentina against Guatemala in the USA on Saturday ahead of the Copa America.
