Euro 2024 | Dragusin through as a group winner with Romania

Wed 26 June 2024, 18:58|Tottenham Hotspur

Radu Dragusin helped Romania qualify for the knockout stages of Euro 2024 as winners of Group E with a 1-1 draw with Slovakia on Wednesday.

The central defender put in another solid shift over the full 90 minutes in Frankfurt, with the result ensuring that all four of our players at the tournament have now made it through to the last 16.

The teams knew that a draw would be enough for them both to advance before kick-off, but a competitive game saw Ondrej Duda give Slovakia a 24th-minute lead, before Razvan Marin levelled things up from the penalty spot.

All four teams in the group ended up on four points, with Romania and Belgium advancing in first and second place, with Slovakia through as one of the best third-placed sides. Ukraine saw their hopes ended after their goalless draw with Belgium.

Romania must wait until the final group stage matches have concluded this evening (Wednesday) before discovering who their opponents will be in the round of 16.

Radu’s Spurs team-mates Guglielmo Vicario (Italy), Micky van de Ven (Netherlands) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Denmark) will join him in the knockout stages.
