The Story | Ange Postecoglou | A special feature on Ange's journey

Mon 15 July 2024, 07:00|Tottenham Hotspur

This is Ange Postecoglou's story, from the young boy dreaming big growing up in Melbourne to our Head Coach here at Spurs, via the Socceroos, Japan and Scotland.

The Story | Ange Postecoglou is Ange's journey in his own words, taking us back to where it all started in Melbourne, Australia, and introducing us to his friend since childhood, Nick Deligiannis, who recalls how Ange would buy Shoot magazine every week and soak up every word.

Featuring footage of his early playing and coaching career at South Melbourne - a playing career ended early by injury - the film speaks to key characters throughout Ange's life in football, including Aussie legend Tim Cahill, such a key player for Ange and the Socceroos, who describes how Ange 'taught me to be a footballer again' and Callum McGregor, Ange's treble-winning captain at Celtic, who speaks in glowing terms about his impact in Glasgow.

Available now on SPURSPLAY, the film also includes interviews with Brennan Johnson and Ange's coaching staff at Spurs - Ryan Mason, Mile Jedinak, Matty Wells an Rob Burch.

It's a fascinating insight into what makes Ange tick, and how his beliefs have brought success every step along the way.

It's all perfectly summed up by the man himself at the end of the 50-minute feature. "When I think about our upbringing, Nick (Deligiannis) and myself, we had these really, what seemed at the time, fairly outrageous dreams. Impossible dreams, in many respects. There were plenty of times where, not when I was younger, but as I got older, outside forces tried to diminish those dreams, that they were really impossible. And yet, I'm sitting here today having surpassed every dream and every aspiration I had, even as a kid, and the one thing I would go back and say is don't change anything, just keep having those dreams..."
