Summer of Spurs is back! Free football league, sports camps and special events running throughout school holidays

Fri 19 July 2024, 12:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Another action-packed summer is in store for young people as Tottenham Hotspur Foundation gets set to host six weeks of free activities across the local area.

The popular Summer of Spurs programme returns on Wednesday, 24 July, with a women’s and girls’ football festival at New River Sport and Fitness on White Hart Lane. The event, from 11am-2pm, for all ages, will involve a freestyle workshop, 2 v 2 games, shooting practice and the chance to win prizes.

Multi-sports camps for youngsters aged 7-13 will offer football, flag football, cricket and more. They will take place from 10am-3pm every day from Monday, 29 July to Thursday, 8 August at New River, moving to Duke’s Aldridge Academy, next to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, from Monday, 12 August to Thursday, 22 August.

New for this year, the Foundation will also host a summer football league to engage U14s and U16s, with games taking place from 4pm-6pm every Tuesday to Thursday between 30 July and 22 August. The leagues will run at New River on Tuesdays, the Donkey Lane 3G pitches in Enfield on Wednesdays, and at Frederick Knight Sports Ground in Haringey on Thursdays.

Prizes will then be up for grabs at the league finals, happening at New River on Thursday, 29 August.

For aspiring football coaches, Spurred 2 Coach returns from Monday, 29 July to Friday, 2 August at Percy House, the home of the Foundation on High Road next to the Stadium, with each day running from 9.30am-3.30pm.

A second cohort will do the course from Monday, 19 August to Friday, 23 August at Duke’s, with each day running from 10am-4pm.

Spurred 2 Coach, set up for young adults without qualifications, but an interest in coaching, sees participants complete workbook tasks before sessions that allow them to put theory into practice. The Foundation then helps fund and support them on to the FA Introduction to Coaching Football qualification (previously known as the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football).

In addition to all this, there will be special events on Fridays and into the final week of Summer of Spurs. These include a South American-style 3v3 street football tournament, a tournament in memory of local teenager Godwin Lawson, a Summer of Sport Festival and more.

There will be a flag football festival for U13s and U14s, at New River, from 10am-2pm on Friday, 9 August. The Foundation is uniquely placed to deliver flag football through the Huddle Project, a programme joint-funded by the Club, the NFL and Nike.

There will also be an open football session for girls aged 10-16 at New River on Wednesday, 28 August from 10am-2pm.

The Foundation will be delivering sports activities for young people with special educational needs and disabilities at local schools throughout the holidays.

For those who have not previously attended a Foundation event, the Foundation’s participant registration form must be completed first before signing up to events.
