Matilda Vinberg: “It’s good to have a full pre-season with the group”

Matilda Vinberg has relished being back at Hotspur Way for pre-season.
Preparations for the 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign ramped up last Friday (26 July) as all players that were on international duty over the summer break returned to the Club for their first session – and the Sweden international was one of those.
Having signed for us in January, 2024, following the expiration of her contract with Hammarby IF, the 21-year-old was straight into the action and went on to make 18 appearances in all competitions last term, netting her first goal in the 1-0 WSL win over Leicester City.
Matilda, who also scored her first senior international goal for Sweden earlier this year, has enjoyed reuniting with everyone and is looking forward to her first full pre-season as a Lilywhite.
It was really fun to be back with the girls and it’s easier to work hard when you have this group around you
“I’m very excited to be back,” she told us after the first session of pre-season. “It was a couple of months not seeing everyone and being around here, so it was nice to be back last week and have our first sessions together.
“The sessions in pre-season aren’t always fun but, like I said, it was really fun to be back with the girls and it’s easier to work hard when you have this group around you. It has been tough but that’s of it as well, helping us to get ready for next season.
“Of course, it’s good to have a full pre-season with the Club but I feel I have known this group of players for a long time,” Matilda explained. “When I first came here, it was a bit different as I was jumping straight into the squad, so it will be good to get to know everyone better.”
