July international fixtures for our Women’s first team players

Tue 09 July 2024, 11:30|Tottenham Hotspur

A number of our players will return to action over the next two weeks as they report for international duty with their respective countries.

The UEFA Women’s 2025 European Championship qualifiers are set to conclude this month, with the final two fixtures of each group set to be played in the coming week.

Martha Thomas has been in outstanding form for Scotland since the turn of the year, netting eight goals in four games, with five of those in their qualifying group, and her country have already secured their spot in the play-offs for next summer’s tournament.

Celin Bizet’s Norway currently occupy second spot in their qualifying group and will face Olga Ahtinen’s and Eveliina Summanen’s Finland side, with both countries still in contention to finish in the top two spots and automatically qualify for the final tournament.

Jess Naz was named on the standby list for the England senior squad, having received her maiden call-up last month, with the Lionesses facing Republic of Ireland and Sweden in their final two games. Sarina Weigman’s side sit third in their qualifying group with seven points, behind second-placed Sweden on goal difference while France lead the way on nine points.

Araya Dennis has been named in the England Under-19 squad as they set to compete in the Women’s European Under-19 Championship finals in Lithuania this month. The Young Lionesses will face the host nation, Serbia and France in the group stage, with the top two from each group progressing to the knockout stages.

Outside of Europe, Australia step up their preparations for this summer’s Olympic games in Paris with a friendly against Canada in Marbella, Spain, on Saturday 13 July. Charlotte Grant has been listed as a travelling reserve for the Matildas, where she can be selected as a replacement athlete in case of injury or withdrawal of one of the selected 18 players in Tony Gustavsson’s side throughout the tournament.
