A blossoming friendship full of respect, Pape Matar Sarr and Pedro Porro joined us in Tokyo on Thursday morning to talk about relationships, the squad becoming a family and, of course, each other!
Here’s what they had to say...
How has pre-season been so far?
Pedro: “Yes, good. It’s always hard, but, for now, all good.”
Pape: “I’m used to the heat because I’m from Africa, it’s hot for everyone, but you have to be strong.”
Tell us about the squad, the players look happy together…
Pedro: “The group is, for me, family, that’s most important. I think this family together, pre-season, during the season, this work is good for us, for the team.”
Pedro, tell us about Pape...
Pedro: “Pape, from the first day here, we’ve had a good relationship. He’s a good guy, for me, Pape is top level.”
Pape, tell us about Pedro...
Pape: “Yes, he’s a nice guy, from the first day I met him, he had a lot of friends, a lot of energy around the team. Me, I like him… he’s my friend.”
And what about Pedro the footballer?
Pape: “He’s a great player. I like the way he plays. For me, he’s in the top five right-backs in the world.”
Pedro: “Thank you, Pape!”
What about Pape, Pedro?
Pedro: “For me, the most important thing is his understanding on the pitch. I feel lucky we played together all of last season. For me, Pape is a top man, always, so much energy on the pitch. He’s a top midfielder, a star.”
