Our Global Football Development (GFD) coaching team certainly made their mark during our time in Japan.

In the first week of our Asia tour, our GFD team - Head of Global Coaching, Chris Acaster, Nick Hardy (Player/Coach Development Manager) and Alfie Babb (Football Development Manager) took part in events with 500 local players and coaches across Tokyo, Yokohama and Saitama, working across a number of grassroots clubs, J1 League academies and our Official Supporters' Club network.

The team put together 10 coaching sessions across our four days in Tokyo, from an OSC 5-a-side and junior coaching event, where they were joined by Club legends and Ambassadors Ossie Ardiles and Ledley King, to an Elite camp for Urawa Red Diamonds of the J1 League.

The GFD now head from Japan to Korea for the second part of our Asia tour, where they will again engage with a range of young footballers, from K League academy teams to, again, working with our Official Supporters' Clubs.

As we departed for Seoul on Sunday, Chris told us: "It has been a privilege to travel to Japan and work with so many aspiring players and coaches over the past week. We have been blown away by the quality of football and the passion the players have shown for wanting to develop their own game. We hope that each player and coach we have worked with has learnt something new and they continue to implement those things on and off the pitch. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we return again.”
