Lucas relishing first week of pre-season: “Fantastic club, amazing players”

Lucas Bergvall has underlined the importance of his first pre-season at the Club.
Snapped up from Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgarden in February, Lucas officially joined us on 1 July after taking his tally to 37 appearances in Sweden’s top flight and 59 senior appearances in Swedish football – all at the age of 18.
The all-action midfielder is now into day four of our pre-season preparations, vital time to get to know his new team-mates, coaching staff and our style of play under Ange Postecoglou with our pre-season match schedule starting next week with friendlies against Hearts in Edinburgh (Wednesday 17 July, 7pm) and QPR (Saturday 20 July, 3pm).
“It’s going really well, this is a fantastic club with amazing players and amazing staff, so I’m really happy to be here and start pre-season,” Lucas told us after training on Monday.
“Training has been really good, tough as well, so much speed and power. So, yes, it’s been tough, totally different from Sweden, but it’s fun as well. It’s a really important time for me, important to get to know everyone before the season starts so we can form that good connection.”
