Dragusin full of hope for Romania after encouraging Euros campaign

Radu Dragusin believes the future looks bright for the Romania National Team despite their Euro 2024 journey coming to an end with a round of 16 defeat to the Netherlands on Tuesday (2 July).

Falling to Micky van de Ven and his Dutch compatriots 3-0 in Munich, it was undoubtedly a tough evening for Radu and his nation. However, it was a scoreline that perhaps didn't tell the whole story of the game with Romania competitive right to the last in that match before their fire was ultimately doused by two late Donyell Malen strikes.

And, upon reflection of the tournament as a whole, 22-year-old Radu was able to look back at his nation's efforts rather positively - especially after they had finished as Group E winners (the first time they've ever come top during a group stage at a Euros), largely thanks to a comfortable opening day win over Ukraine. That was just their second ever win at a European Championships.

Speaking on his official instagram channel, the defender reflected: "Although we end this European Championship with a defeat against the Netherlands, we have laid a solid foundation for a team that has shown desire and determination.

"We have what we are building on and we understood that together we can achieve great results. Thanks again to all the supporters from all parts of the world who supported us during this tournament🇷🇴⚽️"
