Ange on a 'unique' welcome and his hopes for Team K League clash

Ange Postecoglou described our arrival in Korea as 'pretty special' after hundreds of fans turned out to welcome us to Seoul.

Speaking to us ahead of our pre-season friendly clash with Team K League, Ange reflected on the first 48 hours of our time in the Korean capital and it was clear the moment had left a lasting impression on him.

Walking through into the arrivals hall at Incheon airport, captain Heung-Min Son led us into his homeland where supporters lined the walkway to cheer us through.

"It’s fair to say, it was pretty unique," Ange reflected as we spoke at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. "We understand the magnitude of Sonny’s standing in his own country but, to experience it first hand, was pretty special for him.

"I think it’s pretty special for all of us involved. It’s great to see. That flows on and they are passionate about the Club as well which is great."

Reflecting on our pre-season work as a whole so far, Ange admits things have been fairly positive.

With a number of good tests already under our belts and the lads working hard in training, our Head Coach is happy with the progress that we have been making. And, with no players having suffered any serious injury of note, that is another major positive for him as we build towards the season.

"Things are going okay. The games have been decent, and training has been really good, working hard," Ange explained. "Everyone is getting fitter and stronger. We have no real major injury issues so, from that perspective, it’s been good."

And he is hoping we will put in another good performance tonight as we face Team K League in Korea's capital but he knows it'll be a fair challenge for us as, like with Vissel Kobe last Saturday, we face another set of players who have half a season of action already under their belts.

"It’s another challenge for us," Ange said. "Every game is an opportunity for us to continue on with our preparations for the season.

"Again, they’ll be a good side. All of their players are in competition so they’ll be ready to play a bit like the game in Japan so hopefully we’ll put in another good performance."
