Our Under-18s are spending this week at a pre-season training camp in York.
After returning from the summer break at the start of this month and winning a couple of behind-closed-doors friendly matches at the Training Centre, it’s now on to a five-day stay at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate for a dedicated training and team bonding trip.
Timileyin Adekunle, Miracle Adewole, Sam Archer, Samal Bangura, Jamel Beggs, Harry Byrne, Roman Egan-Riley, Reiss Elliott-Parris, George Feeney, Tye Hall, Malachi Hardy, Herbie James, Ellis Lehane, Calum Logan, Ronny Moncur, Leon Myrtaj, Dante Orr, Dylan Thompson, Tynan Thompson, Elijah Upson and Charlie Warren have all made the trip.
In addition, there are seven Under-16s players present as part of the group.
It’s really important for these players – the first-years in particular, but also the second-years – to put those foundations of work into place.
“It’s been a really positive first few weeks for the Under-18s group,” said coach Stuart Lewis. “We’re now in York for a week, which will be really important on and off the pitch for our fundamentals in terms of how we want to play and how we expect the boys to carry themselves as Tottenham Hotspur players.
“It’s really important for these players – the first-years in particular, but also the second-years – to put those foundations of work into place so we can continue to build towards the start of the season and beyond.
“We’ve enjoyed the sessions on the pitch so far in pre-season and the players have been really responsive to the messages from myself and the staff. Obviously the intensity will start to increase in the coming weeks but it’s been a pleasing start and in terms of the games we’ve had over the last couple of weeks, we were able to play with two lots of 11 in both matches – one in each half – which was really important to enable us to implement what we’ve been working on in training in game scenarios.
“After this, we’ve got the Next Generation Cup at Aston Villa, which will be a challenge for us as we continue to increase the demands leading into the new season.”
