United vs Spurs | What is Ange expecting from United at Old Trafford?
Sun 14 January 2024, 10:15|Tottenham Hotspur
Ange Postecoglou is expecting to face the best version of Manchester United at Old Trafford today (4.30pm UK).
United have been inconsistent so far in 2023/24 - highlighted by their form in the Premier League, 10 wins and nine losses in 20 games - but Ange is well aware of the quality of Erik ten Hag's team if they click into gear.
That was certainly seen in United's comeback from 2-0 down at half-time to beat in-form Villa 3-2 at home on Boxing Day, but the festive period summed up United's campaign - a 2-0 loss at West Ham followed by that spectacular comeback against Villa, followed by a 2-1 loss at Forest.
They've been inconsistent but when they've played well they're still a very, very good football side
Despite being hit by injuries and suspensions since November (10 players were missing for our FA Cup win against Burnley last time out), we've continued to pick up results - we travel to Old Trafford with four wins in our last five, sitting fifth in the table.
Asked in his pre-match press conference what he was expecting from United, Ange said: "Going into these games, you expect that they'll be at their best. They've been inconsistent but when they've played well they're still a very, very good football side, and they've certainly got some real quality throughout their team.
"It's going to be a difficult game, particularly at Old Trafford. The supporters will be behind them. We're expecting a tough game, a big challenge for us, but so far in those big games at the biggest stadiums we've done fairly well - this will be another good challenge for us."
