A Spurs fan, Terry Gibson lived the football dream - first playing for his boyhood club, then Manchester United, before being part of Wimbledon's 'Crazy Gang' that stunned Liverpool to lift the FA Cup in 1988.
Born locally in Walthamstow, Terry progressed through the youth system to make his Spurs debut against Stoke City in the old First Division, a 1-0 win on 29 December, 1979 - aged just 17 years, three days. He remains one of our youngest-ever league debutants.
The striker made 18 appearances for us over the next four years with his seven goals covering all competitions - four in the league, one each in the FA Cup, League Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup.
He departed for Coventry City in August, 1983, where he scored 43 goals in 93 league appearances, and 53 in all competitions. That prompted a move to Old Trafford in January, 1986, scoring only once before moving to Wimbledon for a then club record fee in August, 1987.
Terry started Wimbledon's FA Cup triumph against Liverpool at Wembley later that season, one of the all-time shocks - as commentator John Motson famously put it, 'the Crazy Gang have beaten the Culture Club' - and scored 22 goals in his 86 league appearances at Plough Lane. He went on to have spells at Swindon, Peterborough United and Barnet before calling time on his playing career in 1995. He later had coaching spells at Barnet and Northern Ireland and is a Pro Licence holder.
Recently turned 61, Terry is now best known as a Spanish football expert with years of experience as a pundit on Sky Sports and La Liga TV. He was back supporting his boyhood club with a family visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for our Premier League win against AFC Bournemouth on New Year's Eve.
