Under-18s goalkeeper Bloedorn on FA Youth Cup test: “We’ve got to bring the best version of ourselves”

Goalkeeper Carey Bloedorn says our Under-18s are determined to maintain the highest possible standards in order to avoid an FA Youth Cup slip-up at Burton Albion on Tuesday evening (7pm UK).
We head to the Pirelli Stadium to take on a Brewers side that notably scalped our Under-18 Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the third round, with Stuart Lewis’ troops determined to carry over their positive league form into the high-profile youth tournament.
For Carey, who has started all but two of our competitive Under-18 games so far this season, it’ll be vitally important to maintain focus and prevent the hosts from making a breakthrough in order to give ourselves the best chance of making progress.
“For myself and all of the lads, we know that we’ve got to win, first and foremost,” he said. “We know it’s going to be a tough game – the previous team they played, Aston Villa, found that out – and they’re definitely a team that we shouldn’t underestimate.
“We’ve seen clips before the game, seen how they play, but we’ve got to be prepared for everything and ultimately we’ve got to bring the best version of ourselves on Tuesday.
“Our standards as a team and as a club are very high. We set the bar high, demand a lot of each other and we all want the best for each other so going into the match, we’re determined to keep a clean sheet and win the game.
“Clean sheets win games and I would say it’s massive if we can achieve that in this cup tie. We’ll do all we can and at the other end, trust in ourselves that we can get the goals we need to get through into the next round.”
