Team news from Burnley | Key defender to miss FA Cup tie

Thu 04 January 2024, 15:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Jordan Beyer will miss Friday evening's FA Cup third round tie at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (8pm UK).

The German centre-back has started 15 of the Clarets' 20 matches in the Premier League so far this season but was forced off after 17 minutes of the 3-2 loss at Villa last time out in 30 December.

Kompany was asked about Beyer at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, and said: "He won't feature in the next game. Hopefully, he'll be back for the Luton game (15 January)."

Asked if he was likely to give other players a chance, or stick with the team that has been playing, Kompany answered: "We look at this game against Tottenham as another Premier League game so, even if there is a change or two, I don't think there's anything crazy to expect.

"The goal for us is to continue trying to play against these teams and maybe get results against these teams. I don't think we can afford to do anything too crazy. Maybe one or two, but nothing major."
