Three new signings feature in friendly victory over Charlton

Sun 07 January 2024, 19:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Three of our latest signings featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton Athletic – who are coached by former manager Karen Hills - at Hotspur Way on Sunday afternoon.

Shuang Wang, Matilda Vinberg and Charlotte Grant were all involved as we ran out 2-1 winners over the Addicks - with Jess Naz and Ellie Brazil on the scoresheet – as we continued our preparations ahead of our return to action next Sunday (14 January) in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Shuang and Matilda both started the game before being replaced at the break, while Charlotte came on as a second half substitute – with the trio of new arrivals getting 45 minutes each.

After goalless first half, the visitors took the lead after the break via a set-piece before Naz grabbed the equaliser as a long-ball in behind was latched onto by the forward, one-on-one with goalkeeper, showing composure to calmly slot into the bottom corner.

Ellie and Rosella Ayane linked-up for the second – who were both introduced as second half substitutes – with the latter whipping in a low cross to Ellie at the back-post to place it into the corner.

The Addicks were awarded a spot-kick late into the second half, with Eleanor Heeps producing a fantastic save to deny the visitors, getting a strong hand to tip the effort around the post.
