Pape Matar Sarr helped Senegal seal a perfect group-stage record at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday evening as they defeated Guinea 2-0 in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.
Starting just his second-ever game at the AFCON, Pape played 71 minutes at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium as goals from Abdoulaye Seck (61) and Iliman Ndiaye (90) sealed all three points.
Their third and final game of the group stage, that was also their third win, meaning they head into the knockout phase with a 100 per cent record at the tournament as they continue their title defence having lifted the cup for the first time in 2022. They are the only nation in the knockout stages that still hold a 100 per cent record.
They will now face a round of 16 clash on Monday 29 January (kick-off 8pm UK) in which they will face either Ivory Coast or Zambia.
That was Pape's 20th cap for his country.
