It was a special moment for Matilda Vinberg on Wednesday evening as she netted her first senior international goal for Sweden in their comfortable 5-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After being named in Peter Gerhardsson's squad for the UEFA Women's Nations League play-off games, the 20-year-old was handed just her second start on the international stage – her sixth cap overall for Sweden - and she certainly made a quick impression at the Tele2 Arena.
With the clock approaching the half hour mark of the game, the midfielder opened the scoring for the hosts on the night as she latched onto Filippa Angeldal’s low free-kick and guided her left-footed effort across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.

Matilda went onto complete a full 90 minutes and helped set-up the final goal of the evening as her cross was headed home by Pauline Hammarlund in injury-time, securing an impressive 10-0 win over two-legs and cements their spot in the UEFA Women’s Nations League A.
Defender Amanda Nildén also started in the victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina and was part of the backline that kept a clean sheet at the Tele2 Arena, making her eighth appearance for the national side.
