It was certainly a night to remember for Grace Clinton.
The midfielder made her senior international debut for England on Friday evening, and within the opening 20 minutes of the game, she scored her first goal for the Lionesses as they secured an emphatic 7-2 victory over Austria in a friendly.
The 20-year-old, who is on loan to us from Manchester United, was given her first cap by Sarina Wiegman and was just inches away from opening her account in the 14th minute as her effort from the edge of the box struck the inside of the post.
However, just five minutes later, Grace netted her first-ever senior international goal and the second goal of the evening as she rose the highest to Lauren Hemp’s cross to guide her header into the bottom corner, making an instant impact on her debut.
She was later replaced by Jess Park just after the hour mark, with the Lionesses back in action on Tuesday evening against Italy.
The senior squad are currently out in Spain for a warm weather training camp alongside the under-23s, where Jessica Naz also impressed in their friendly against Spain on Thursday morning.
Grace was named in Wiegman squad for the third time for February’s round of matches, previously involved in November and December but was unused on both occasions.
