Spurs vs Wolves | Ange’s preview: “They’re a threat going forward”

Ange Postecoglou says we’ll have to be wary of a Wolves side with ‘special individual players’ as we face Gary O’Neil’s team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (3pm UK).

The men from Molineux rattled in four against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their last away game a fortnight ago and arrive in N17 sitting 11th in the Premier League.

One of those special players, Matheus Cunha (nine goals, six assists), who scored a hat-trick in that 4-2 win at Chelsea, is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, but top scorer Hwang Hee-Chan (10 goals, three assists) is back after a calf issue.

From our perspective, what’s important is that we continue to build, and with 14 games to go, we want to finish the season really strong

Asked what he expects from Wolves on Inside Spurs, Ange said: “They have some real threats, great individual players going forward, they work hard as a team and we faced that when we played them at their place, when they kept going until the end and worked hard to get a result.

“This won’t be any different. From our perspective, what’s important is that we continue to build, and with 14 games to go, we want to finish the season really strong. We started the season strong and if we can do that, we’ll be in a good place.”

O’Neil tends to go with three at the back - Max Kilman, Craig Dawson and Toti have started the last five - in a 3-4-2-1 system, and we asked Ange if that meant any tactical tweaks. “It’s always about us and the way we want to take the game, whether it’s three at the back or four at the back, with Wolves, it looks like a three but sometimes it’s a four, sometimes it’s a five. We give the information to the players, so they are aware what needs to be done.”
