Ange Postecoglou is hopeful that Timo Werner will recover in time for Sunday's Premier League encounter against Liverpool.
Having missed our Carabao Cup quarter-final victory against Manchester United on Thursday evening due to illness, the forward's fever yesterday morning left Ange with 10 first-team players sidelined ahead of the tie as the squad performed admirably given the circumstances in which we led 3-0 before United's comeback as a cup classic ended 4-3 in our favour. Liverpool will also be our semi-final opponent over two legs in the new year.
The winger - who opened his account for the season to help see us through in the fourth round of the competition with a win over Manchester City - has 20 appearances in all competitions so far this term although faces a race against time ahead of our league outing against the Reds at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (kick-off 4.30pm UK).
When asked about Timo's availability for this weekend's huge league clash in N17, our Head Coach said: "Hopefully. Timo was unwell yesterday, so we've 48 hours before the game, hopefully he'll recover in time."
Guglielmo Vicario, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison remain sidelined, with Rodrigo Bentancur still suspended.
