Micky van de Ven is ruled out of Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Rangers, says Ange Postecoglou.

Sidelined through November with a hamstring injury sustained against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on 30 October, Micky returned to the starting side for our defeat to Chelsea on Sunday but came off with 11 minutes to play with some tightness in the same muscle.

With the quick turnaround to our outing at Ibrox Stadium (kick-off 8pm UK), the centre-back has not travelled with the squad to Glasgow and is set for an indefinite spell on the sidelines.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of tomorrow evening’s European tie, Ange said: "With the weekend's fallout, Romero and Van de Ven - we're still getting clarity around their prognosis - but both have picked up injuries that will keep them out again."

When asked for further clarity on Micky's injury, he added: "It's the same side (with his hamstring), whether it's the same one (injury) we need clarity on whether it's the same spot or different."

Speaking in his pre-match SPURSPLAY interview on Wednesday (11 December) ahead of Rangers, Ange further revealed: "Not great news about Cristian and Micky unfortunately.

"They've both had setbacks at the weekend so we'll wait and see but they won't be available for the next period of games.

"That affects tomorrow night, that affects us for the next few games so the fact they're the same position affects us even more, especially with Ben out in the same position. We're in a bit of a tough spot but a great opportunity for us to overcome the odds and hopefully create something special."

As mentioned by Ange, Ben Davies remains out after picking up a hamstring injury at Bournemouth last week. Longer-term absentees Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Guglielmo Vicario and Mikey Moore remain sidelined. Rodrigo Bentancur is available for the UEFA Europa League.
