Two-goal Maddison your Player of the Match after Southampton success

James Maddison has been named your HSBC Player of the Match after he bagged a brace in Sunday night's 5-0 win over Southampton.

Making his second consecutive start, our number 10 scored twice on the road for the second time in just three Premier League games to earn him your votes as he came top of our Player of the Match poll on our Official App for the fourth time this campaign.

Making a lightning-quick start to the clash on the south coast, Madders opened the scoring against the Saints as he stroked home Djed Spence's through ball on 36 seconds - that was our third quickest ever goal in the Premier League.

The midfielder then went on to deliver the cross which led to our second, whipping a ball across the bix for Heung-Min Son to guide home - unfortunately, as a defender got a touch on the cross, it hasn't been recorded as an assist for our number 10.

But that didn't matter too much for the England international as, after Dejan Kulusevski and Pape Matar Sarr further extended our advantage with strikes of their own before Madders grabbed his second on the stroke of half-time to make us one of just four sides in Premier League history to have scored five goals in the first half away from home in the competition.
