Giving thanks to hospital staff ahead of Christmas

Mon 23 December 2024, 12:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Club Ambassadors Ledley King, Gary Mabbutt and Ossie Ardiles visited five of our local hospitals to present gifts to staff ahead of the busy Christmas period.

A range of gifts donated by our partners - Cadbury, Molton Brown, EXALT, Drip and EA SPORTS FC - were distributed to delighted staff at North Middlesex, Barnet, Princess Alexandra and Whipps Cross Hospitals, as well as Tynemouth Health Centre in Tottenham - part of the Whittington Health Trust.

The Club Legends spent time speaking with staff - many of whom are Spurs supporters - about their experiences of working over the Christmas period.

Gary Mabbutt said: “It was important for us as a Club to recognise the incredible work that heroic staff across our local hospitals are doing - not only during the Christmas period, but throughout the year. This was the Club’s way of saying a huge thank you to them and providing some respite from their extremely busy schedules. A huge thank you also goes to our partners - Cadbury, Molton Brown, EXALT, Drip and EA SPORTS FC - for these extremely generous donations of gifts.”

Thom Lafferty, chief executive at Princess Alexandra Health Trust, said: “Many of our staff take time away from their own families to care for people staying in hospital over the festive season and I would like to say a very big thank you to Tottenham Hotspur for the generous gifts they have delivered, to share with those that will be here working.”

The Club has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with its local hospitals, with players delivering Christmas toys on children’s wards annually and our stadium hosting North Middlesex’s maternity services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the Club has taken a fresh approach to its Christmas toy deliveries, working with the Local Buyers Club’s Winter Toy Appeal to ensure gifts have reached local young people and families experiencing hardship in Haringey and Enfield.

The Club has also made donations to its local Foodbanks and became the inaugural sporting partner of the Multibank Christmas Campaign, with players, staff and fans donating essential products to combat the issue of hygiene poverty across our communities.
