A-Z with

Ella Morris

Following her arrival to Hotspur Way earlier this month, we posed defender Ella Morris with some quickfire questions to get to know her a little better.

The England youth international joined us following the expiration of her contract with Southampton, where she progressed through the academy set-up to a first team starter, making an impressive 117 senior appearances by the age of 21.

Taking on the Q&A, the defender reveals her inspiration when growing up, where she would go back in time and her favourite holiday destination...

Ability – Define your best three attributes as a player?

“I would have to choose speed, determination and front-footer.”

Best friend – Who is your best friend in football?

“There’s too many to pick from, but I will put Rosie Parnell as that will make her happy. We are like opposite people, but we just get on really well, and when I was at Southampton, she was the captain.”

Cinema – What is the best film you have watched?

“I’m going to go in the direction of nostalgia with the Narnia movies, I would just watch those with my siblings and cousins when growing up.”

Debut – When did you make your debut and where?

“It was against Oxford City at AFC Totton during the 2018/19 campaign, I would have been 16 years old at the time.”

Eat – Who would you most like to invite around for a dinner?

“I would invite Lewis Hamilton as he knows what it takes to win consistently in a high-pressure environment, Hannah Waddingham, the actress on Ted Lasso, as she is really cool and empowering, and then David Attenborough as I love him.”

Fanatic – What is your favourite memory as a football fan?

“Watching Southampton get promoted to the Premier League last season as I had the opportunity to be at Wembley for the play-off final.”

Grades – what was your favourite subject in school?

“History – I love learning about all that!”

Hobbies – what do you do when you are not playing football?

“I do a lot of walking…like taking my dog for a walk, or I would watch movies at the cinema.”

Inspire – who did you look up to when growing up?

"My sister. She played football as well, she has been out for two years but is hoping to get back into it. If she hadn't started playing football, I wonder if I would have actually started playing."

Job – what would you be doing if you weren’t a professional footballer?

“I would just want to be in athletics, maybe the 200m sprints.”

Karaoke – What is your go to karaoke song?

“Love The Way You Lie by Eminem.”

Love – What do you most love about playing football?

“How it feels like the world just stops when you are playing it, you don’t think about anything else when you are on the pitch.”

Meet – What one person would you most like to meet?

“I would go with Usain Bolt as I have just finished reading his autobiography and it was enjoyable to learn more about him.”

Number – What is your lucky number?

“If I had to pick one number, it would be 11. I use to wear that on the back of my shirt when I was younger playing football."

Overcome – How did you overcome personal setbacks in your career?

“Just through hard work and if I give 100%, then I know that I have given my best that I could have.”

Position – What was your first position in football?

“It was actually a left-winger or goalkeeper. I wanted to be a goalkeeper when I was younger, but that quickly changed when I realised I couldn’t catch a ball.”

Quality – Who is the best player you’ve played against?

 “I would choose Leah Galton.”

Rewind – Where would you go if you could go back in time?

“I want to go back to ancient Egypt and I want to see how the pyramids where built.”

Sport – If you weren’t playing football, what other sport would you do?

"As I mentioned above, I love athletics and especially running so anything around that, maybe give the 200m a good go."

TV – What tv series are you currently watching?

“I’m currently watching SPRINT on Netflix, which is a documentary following 100m runners, or F1’s Drive To Survive as I am a big fan of that sport also.”
