Players welcome the ‘Ambassa-dogs’ to training

Wed 28 August 2024, 17:45|Tottenham Hotspur

The Club today welcomed local dogs that have been successfully re-homed, or are currently in need of re-homing, to its Training Centre to meet our dog-loving players and raise awareness of the fantastic work of All Dogs Matter.

Tottenham Hotspur is the Club for dog lovers and recently launched Tottenham Hotspaw - its first ever official supporters’ club for dog-owners to join alongside their beloved pets.

Players welcome the ‘Ambassa-dogs’ to training

• Dogs that have been successfully re-homed, or are currently in need of a forever home, visited the Club’s Training Centre and met with players from both the men’s and women’s teams
• Tottenham Hotspur is the Club for dog lovers and recently launched its first ever supporters’ club for dog-owners to join alongside their beloved pets
• The initiative is delivered in support of All Dogs Matter - a charity that works in and around London to transform the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs
• Our resident dog-lovers - including James Maddison and Bethany England - met with the ‘Ambassa-dogs’ and representatives from the charity to raise awareness of its efforts

Members and their four-legged friends are able to take part in a programme of special experiences throughout the season, including fundraising activities and events in support of All Dogs Matter – a charity that works in and around London to transform the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs.

These include their five ‘Ambassa-dogs’ - Shadow, Pearl, Aria, Grady and Snek - all of whom were originally found as strays after being abandoned. Snek and Grady are still looking for their homes, while the others have now been adopted.

Grady is a four-year-old Boxer who arrived at the charity last year after being found abandoned. He arrived at the charity with three legs, which may have been an amputation related to a damaged cruciate ligament. He is currently being fostered and is still looking for his perfect forever home.

Snek is a four-year-old Chihuahua who also arrived at the charity after being found abandoned. He’s a friendly, happy boy and is also looking for his forever home.

Our resident dog-lovers Bethany England, Kit Graham, Dejan Kulusevski, Amy James-Turner, James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Martha Thomas and Alfie Whiteman met with the ‘Ambassa-dogs’ and All Dogs Matter representatives to raise awareness of its efforts and further encourage fans to show their support.

Bethany England said: “Dogs have such a special place in my heart, and I think what All Dogs Matter are doing in spreading awareness and trying to get these dogs rehomed is an amazing thing. Every dog deserves a loving home, and the work that the charity does makes that possible. It is also amazing to be part of a Club that shares these values and wants to support as many dogs as possible.”

Alfie Whiteman added: “It was incredible meeting all the lovely dogs from All Dogs Matter, and also learning more about the charity’s work, because there are so many dogs that need rehoming. It is a great cause and something everyone should consider. I am a big animal lover, so it’s been a special day all in all.”

Dejan Kulusevski said: “It has been a great day. The work this charity is doing is so important. I love dogs and am passionate about taking care of them, they show us so much love and it is only right we return the favour.”

Ira Moss, General Manager and Founder of All Dogs Matter, said: “We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Tottenham Hotspur on this wonderful initiative to raise awareness of the importance of dog rescue and adoption. We have seen a huge increase in the number of dogs entering our shelter since the collaboration and we hope, by working with the Club and their brilliant players, we can shine a light on this issue and encourage more people to adopt rather than buy dogs. Giving a rescue dog a home is a hugely rewarding experience that helps saves lives – we hope today’s event will bring much needed awareness and potential homes for our lovely dogs.”

The Club is showcasing a ‘Dog of the Match’ - as submitted by a Tottenham Hotspaw member - on our big screens at all home fixtures this season, as well as in the matchday programme.

Tottenham Hotspaw members are able to submit their photos to be featured as a future ‘Dog of the Match’ via a members-only Facebook group. Sign-up to Tottenham Hotspaw today to give your four-legged friend a chance to take centre stage on a home matchday.

Alongside our ‘Dog of the Match’, a rescue dog that All Dogs Matter currently have up for adoption will also be featured every home matchday on the big screens and in the programme - giving fans the chance to provide a forever home so badly needed.
