"It'll be great to see him!" - Ben on Dier reunion

Ben Davies feels Saturday's pre-season friendly with FC Bayern will be the perfect way to round of our summer tour of east Asia - especially as the squad can see an old friend once more.

Taking on the German giants in Seoul this weekend, the Bavarian outfit has travelled with a squad which boast a certain Eric Dier - a player who served the Club diligently for nine years, making 365 appearances and helping us to reach three major finals including the 2019 Champions League, before departing for Munich in January.

Signed the same summer as Ben, the duo enjoyed an incredible nine years together in north London and became very good friends.

And so, after six months apart, the duo will be reunited this Saturday and Ben admits he can't wait to catch up with his pal.

"It’ll be kind of strange to see him on an opposition team but it’ll be great to see him."

"It’ll be great to see him," Ben smiled in his pre-match chat with SPURSPLAY. "We spent a lot of time here at this Club together and he was a great servant to this Club while he was here.

"It’ll be kind of strange to see him on an opposition team but it’ll be great to see him, to catch up and we’ll do that after the game."

As for the match, Ben said: "Bayern a great side. They’re one of the best sides in Europe and I think their Champions League run last year showed that. It’s going to be tough.

"They have some really good players there. Some old friends, hopefully we get to see them. But It’ll be a tough game and a great way to finish off the tour."

Wrapping up two weeks of hard work in the far east with the Coupang Play Series fixture against Bayern, Ben also reflected on the benefits of the time the squad have spent together in Japan and Korea.

On his first day on the tour, the defender had stated that the fortnight would be important for the squad to bond as a group and strengthen the team spirit for the season ahead - something he feels they have great success in doing.

"Whenever you spend a lot of time with people , you’re going to make friendships, you’re going to make connections and I think that’s what we’ve done this camp," Ben beamed. "We’ve had a good couple of dinners together as a team. We’ve spent a lot of time around the hotel together. It’s been great to just spend a bit of time with the boys.

"Tokyo and Seoul have both been pretty awesome cities. We’ve had good times in both. Tokyo was so fun. It was the first time I’ve been to Japan as well. It was cool. We had a little bit of time to look around which was nice. The work in Tokyo was tough. The heat was a lot, and the humidity, so that was hard work there. Seoul has been somewhat cooler even though it is still very hot here and the reception you get from the fans here is like nothing we will see anywhere else. It takes a couple of days to get used to but its amazing,

"We’ve brought quite a big squad out here but everyone has been working hard in training, getting minutes in the games and, like I said, working in that heat and humidity, its only good for your adaption when we do go back to England and playing in quite a bit cooler weather. As a squad, we’re looking good. We’ve worked hard, we’ve trained hard. The boys have really put in some good performances in game so we feel confident."
