Guglielmo Vicario today helped deliver a Goalkeeping masterclass session run through the Club’s Global Football Development programmes.

The session was hosted at Richard Hale School in Hertfordshire as one of our 1-Day Football Camps that use Academy endorsed coaching themes and methods to improve players’ technical ability.

The day included a series of technical drills and interactive exercises for around 40 boys and girls aged between 8-13 years old, all led by the Club’s FA & UEFA-qualified coaches, who are fully integrated into our overarching Player Development Model.

• Our new #1 visited a Global Football Development session for aspiring young goalkeepers aged 8-13
• The football camp, hosted at Richard Hale School in Hertfordshire, used Academy endorsed coaching themes and methods to improve the players’ technical ability
• Vic led the players in the technical drills before offering advice and taking part in photographs and shirt signings

Vicario assisted our coaches in delivering the technical session for the aspiring goalkeepers before offering advice during an interactive Q&A session.

Speaking at the school, he said: “Seeing the excitement of the kids playing football today is one of the most beautiful things about the game. Their passion is the most important part of football, and it reminds me of my time as a kid playing the sport, not thinking too much and just enjoying the game.

“Sometimes the biggest excitement as a kid is to score, rather than to save, but as time goes on maybe this can change, and seeing so many young keepers today enjoying being between the posts is very nice.”

A fantastic day for the participants included photography and a signing session with our new #1, before ending with prize giving and presentations.

Luca, 10-years-old, said: “Wow - when I met Vicario, I could barely speak! The session was so much fun, it was such a brilliant day learning new skills and meeting one of my heroes!”

Ching-Hang Chun, Global Football Development Co-ordinator at Tottenham Hotspur, said: “We were delighted to have Vic visit our player development programmes. The opportunity for our aspiring young players to learn about his football experiences and receive technical advice to support the development of their own game was inspirational. We hope all players can take some of this advice away and implement it on the pitch and our player development programmes in the future.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s Global Football Development team impacts circa 45,000 players and coaches annually and demonstrates year-on-year growth.

Technical sessions are delivered by the Club’s FA and UEFA-qualified coaches who take inspiration from Men’s and Women’s First Team training methods to help develop every player that takes part on our programmes.
