‘Dog of the Match’ launches on Saturday

Fri 09 August 2024, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Over the summer, the Club launched its first-ever Official Supporters’ Club for dog lovers – Tottenham Hotspaw. Inspired by the Club’s many dog-loving staff, fans and players across both its men’s and women’s teams, the response from fans has been incredible.

The membership programme is free to join and gives fans access to a programme of special experiences for them and their dogs throughout the year, including a 10% online discount on the Club’s existing retail pet range.

Starting at tomorrow’s game with FC Bayern and running at home matches throughout the season, we will be showcasing a ‘Dog of the Match’ – as submitted by a Tottenham Hotspaw member - on our big screens before the game and at half-time, as well as in the matchday programme.

Our first ‘Dog of the Match’ is Apollo – the rescue staffy of Tottenham Hotspaw co-chair, Leah, from South London. His hobbies include playing fetch, cuddling and stealing socks. He is high energy, strong and fiercely loyal!

Tottenham Hotspaw members are able to submit their photos to be featured as a future ‘Dog of the Match’ via a members-only Facebook group. Sign-up to Tottenham Hotspaw today to give your four-legged friend a chance to take centre stage on a home matchday!

The initiative is being delivered in support of All Dogs Matter – a charity that works in and around London to transform the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs.

Alongside our ‘Dog of the Match’, a rescue dog that All Dogs Matter currently have up for adoption will also be featured every home matchday on the big screens and in the programme – giving fans the chance to provide a forever home so badly needed.

Tomorrow’s focus will be Nisse, a four-year-old male Rhodesian Ridgeback cross from Waltham Abbey who arrived with All Dogs Matter having been found abandoned. He’s friendly, inquisitive and loves everyone he meets. He is looking for a home with a new owner who has had dogs before, with direct access to a garden where he can run about and explore. Nisse would like an active home and is fine with other dogs, pending introductions. He enjoys his walks and exploring and will make a fantastic companion in his new home.
