Dog of the Match – Everton

Fri 23 August 2024, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Following the launch of the initiative at our recent home pre-season friendly with FC Bayern, we will be featuring a ‘Dog of the Match’ for the first time at a Premier League match at this Saturday’s game with Everton.

Members of Tottenham Hotspawour first-ever Official Supporters’ Club for dog lovers – have been posting pictures of their four-legged friends on the group’s Facebook page for a chance for them to be featured on the stadium big screens ahead of kick-off and in the matchday programme.

Our first ‘Dog of the Match’ for the new Premier League season is six-month-old Golden Retriever, Maverick (Mav for short), from Colchester, Essex. His owner, Dionne Wilson-Fairwade, said: “Mav is working on being a good boy. His favourite things are his Dad, our socks and plastic plant pots…after he has outed the plants in them!”

Alongside our ‘Dog of the Match’, we’ll also be giving focus to rescue dogs currently up for adoption with All Dogs Matter – the fantastic charity partner of Tottenham Hotspaw - giving fans the chance to provide a forever home so badly needed.

At Saturday’s match, we’ll be featuring Brian and Cody - a male pair of Poodle Terrier crosses who came to All Dogs Matter after sadly being abandoned. They are a very sweet, bonded pair. They are young, full of life and are looking for an owner with the time and patience to continue their training. Brian and Cody will need a house with direct access to a garden. They are affectionate and cuddly and will make a fantastic addition to a family.

The group’s co-chairs – lifelong fan Leah Kreitzman and Club Executive Director, Donna-Maria Cullen – will be appearing on BBC Radio London’s Late Night Jo show, hosted by Jo Good and Anna Webb, between 11pm – Midnight tonight as part of the popular, long-running ‘Barking at the Moon’ feature. Tune into BBC Sounds to hear more.
