Ange Postecoglou was left disappointed that we could not put our Premier League opener to bed at Leicester after dominating proceedings at the King Power on Monday night.

On top in all contests against the Foxes, we controlled the play in our first outing of the Premier League season but lacked a clinical edge in front of goal.

With 71 per cent of possession, nearly 600 passes and 15 shots on goal with seven on target, we were certainly on top in Leicestershire but we were unable to quite find that final ball or another way past the Foxes low block.

Pedro Porro had given us a deserved lead on 28 minutes but we weren't able to capitalise on the momentum that brought. Jamie Vardy levelled for the hosts against the run of play 12 minutes into the second half and, despite a strong finish to the game, we were not able to force a way home, leaving both the players and Ange frustrated.

The outcome is the most important thing and that is the disappointing thing - the result.

Ange Postecoglou

"The outcome is the most important thing and that is the disappointing thing - the result," Ange reflected. "We played well enough, we dominated the first half, we were just wasteful in front of goal and the same in the second half.

"We started really well, had some great opportunities, didn't take them and then you're always allowing the opposition back into the game and they scored and then we lost our way for about 15, 20 minutes. We looked a bit tired but again we finished strong just without that clinical front third.

"There's no doubting that the performance warranted us having more than a 1-0 lead. Again, if you don't take those chances, you are allowing the opposition into the game. It's disappointing.

"We finished strong but lacked some cutting edge in the front third and for us it's really important that we try and address that as quickly as possible because it's one thing being dominant in your performance but you have to reflect that in the end result."
