Robert Vilahamn has been delighted with the development of Eleanor Heeps after she committed her future with the Club earlier this week.
The 20-year-old signed a new deal that will run until the summer of 2027 and the boss has expressed positive plaudits for the young goalkeeper throughout the campaign, where she has impressed in first team training sessions.
Eleanor, who arrived to N17 in August, 2021, from Liverpool, has been named among the substitutes in seven senior matches and, although she has yet to feature in Lilywhite, Robert believes she is ready to compete with Becky Spencer and Barbora Votikova after progressing well throughout the season.
After working with Perry [Suckling], the goalkeeper coach here, she has taken big steps.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, Robert was asked about Eleanor’s new deal and replied: “Eleanor, from day one to now, has improved so much.
“From the first weeks, you didn’t know which level she could be, but after working with Perry [Suckling], the goalkeeper coach here, she has taken big steps, and I would say she’s competing with the other two goalkeepers to be in the matchday squad now and that’s quite good development in this short space of time.
“Eleanor is very keen to train and learn a lot and, I think, the next step for her will be to compete, try to break into the squad and get minutes – that’s what we want in all positions.”
