Getting to know...
Amy James-Turner

The latest player in the GTK hotseat is defender Amy James-Turner.
The experienced defender made the move to Lilywhite ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and has made 46 appearances in all competitions so far, scoring her first goal in the Barclays Women's Super League in February, 2023.
Published first and exclusively in our official matchday programme, we sat down recently with Amy for this popular Q&A...
WHO?

Who would you like to trade places with for a week?
“I would say someone like David Attenborough so I could travel around the world and I could feel like I’m making a difference.”
Who is the best singer in the squad?
“That has to be either Kit (Graham) or Celin (Bizet), who are quite good at singing. Rosella (Ayane) also enjoys singing around the training ground.”
Who would you most like to see in concert?
“It would be The Stone Roses. I have been to a few concerts before but have never seen them, so I would like to see them live or either Oasis if they ever got back together.”
Who would you most like to invite around for dinner?
“I would say Emma Watson, she seems pretty cool and I’m a big fan of her work, while she also speaks a lot of about Women’s rights and is quite an influential person.”

Where do you go to relax?
“I enjoy taking my dog Betsy out and go for a long walk in the countryside after we have finished our training sessions.”
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
“New Zealand as I’m a big Lord of the Rings fan and I would love to see where it was filmed and visit some of those iconic scenes in the movies.”
Where do you keep your memorabilia?
"Haz's (Angharad) mum started a cabinet with all of her caps and achievements, and she wanted to start adding my stuff in there, so there’s England caps next to Wales caps which is pretty rare.”

HOW?
How do you overcome personal setbacks in your career?
“I try to stay positive, learn from each experience and try to be a better person.”
How many pets do you have?
“I just have the one dog, as I mentioned above, called Betsy. She’s a cockapoo. I have had her since she was a puppy and she’s six now.”
How would you title this chapter in your life?
“It would call it Perspective. I’m starting to think about life outside of football and prepare myself for whatever comes next so, for the last two years, I have been exploring my passions away from football. I also think that has helped me perform better on the pitch, to have a different focus.”

What do you collect?
“I enjoy reading so I have a lot of books at home. I have read the likes of The Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings and all the Harry Potter books. There’s actually a book club with the coffee van that Haz and I run, so we read a book each month and choose different genres.”
What was the first football shirt you owned?
“A Sheffield United one as they are my hometown club. I was like five years old, or around that, so quite a few years ago.”
What was the last series you’ve watched?
“I’m watching Bridgeton and I’m on the second series at the minute. I’m a little behind as Haz wouldn’t have let me when she was here. It’s very good and addictive.”

When does your alarm go off in the morning?
“I have for it around 6am. I’m an early riser but I like to get up and just chill, have a cup of tea and take Betsy for walk, so I usually have a routine and don’t want to feel rushed in the morning.”
When did you last visit your hometown?
“A couple of months ago now, the last time when we had a bit of time off. I always try to head back up north whenever I can.”
When did you last cook and what was it?
“I made this vegan chicken gyro wrap last week."
