Eleanor Heeps says it was a good time to commit her future with the Club and described it as a family environment at Hotspur Way.
Signing a new contract that will run until the summer of 2027, the young goalkeeper, who joined us from Liverpool in August, 2021, has impressed in the first team training sessions and has received plenty of praise from Robert Vilahamn.
Sitting down with SPURSPLAY after she put pen to paper, Eleanor praised the impact the boss and the coaching staff have had on building her confidence throughout this campaign.
“I’m really happy,” she beamed. “This is something I have always been looking forward too, it’s a good time to be at the Club and I’m looking forward to the next couple of years.
“I love it here. It’s like a little family where everyone backs each other, whether you are starting or in training, and it’s a really good environment to be in.
It has been good working with Robert and the rest of the coaching staff, they have filled me with confidence.
“It has been good working with Robert and the rest of the coaching staff, they have filled me with confidence, tested me at times but that’s always a good thing. Perry [Suckling] has been an important part in building my confidence.”
Still only 20, it’s very much still a learning experience for Eleanor, training alongside two experienced goalkeepers in Becky Spencer and Barbora Votíková and that has helped her grow as an individual since she made the move to Lilywhite.
“They are both amazing and they have different styles of playing so it’s kind of nice that I can learn from both of them,” Eleanor added. “I have been working with Becky for the last three years and she has really helped me grow as a person.
When asked where she wants to improve, she said: “I want to work mostly with the ball at my feet as that’s a big part of Robert’s playing style… that is one of main areas I want to improve on.”
