Rosella Ayane came off the bench to score in the fifth minute of injury-time to record an important 2-1 victory for Morocco in the first leg of their CAF Women’s Qualifying Tournament over Zambia
After Morocco took the lead on the stroke of half-time, Zambia equalised with just 10 minutes left on the clock but up stepped our number 23 who, despite being on the pitch for just a few minutes, got ahead of a defender inside the box to guide a low cross into the bottom corner.
The 28-year-old’s later winner gives Morocco an advantage heading into the second leg of the tie on Tuesday 9 April (9pm UK), putting them within touching distance of securing their spot in this summer’s Olympic games in Paris if they avoid a defeat.
It was Rosella’s 11th goal on her 30th appearance for her country.
