Vicario up for August's Premier League Save of the Month award

Guglielmo Vicario's spectacular save to deny Manchester United's Casemiro in our 2-0 win over the Red Devils last month has been nominated for the Premier League Castrol Save of the Month award for August.

Coming on 57 minutes in the encounter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a delivery from Bruno Fernandes on the right was powered towards goal by the head of United's Brazilian midfielder but our new number 13 was  alert to the effort, showing incredible athleticism to fling himself to the right and get a strong right palm onto the ball and turn it over.

And that was one of a number of fine saves our summer signing from Empoli has produced as he has settled quickly into life in the Premier League. In our first four matches, Guglielmo has also kept two clean sheets - no 'keeper has more to his name in the competition this term.

Also in the running for the award are Everton's Jordan Pickford (vs Wolves), Wolves' Jose Sa (vs Everton), Brentford's Mark Flekken (vs Crystal Palace), West Ham United's Alphonse Areola (vs Brighton) and Liverpool's Alisson (vs Newcastle United).
